- A new frontier: Identity stack evolves for agentic systems
In the existing state, identity is human-centric. Today’s identity and access management (IAM) systems were designed for a world dominated by human users and static applications. Identities are provisioned, authenticated, and authorised using models such as role-based access control (RBAC) and multifactor authentication (MFA), with decisions made at login time. Even with the evolution toward zero-trust , the core assumption remains largely unchanged: identities are known, bounded, and relatively stable. However, agentic AI systems break these assumptions. The transition to agentic systems has fundamentally altered the security landscape. We are no longer just securing "users"; we are securing a massive, autonomous web of non-human identities (NHIs) that move at machine speed. Autonomous agents dynamically invoke tools, access APIs, generate sub-agents, and operate across multiple domains without direct human intervention. These agents often use shared credentials, ephemeral tokens, or

AI-assisted development has lowered the barrier to building software. It hasn’t eliminated the need to build it well. Vibe coding the now-common practice of using AI to generate and refine entire features via natural language prompts, pioneered in early 2025 by Andrej Karpathy’s description of a workflow where you ‘fully give in to the vibes’ [1] has quietly become one of the most significant shifts in how software development happens today. The term has since been recognized by Merriam-Webster and Collins as an official entry [14][15] , and major vendors including IBM, GitHub, and Google Cloud now publish official guides around it [2][3][4] . Developers move faster. Non-developers build things that previously required a technical team to handle the development. The feedback loop from idea to running code has collapsed from days to minutes. But speed without established standards is how a working prototype becomes an unmaintainable liability. The Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) e

AI coding tools turned software output into a speed story. A developer can sketch a product in the morning and push a working build before dinner. That is why vibe coding spread so fast, even as security researchers warned that AI-generated code can widen software supply chain risk. The part most people missed sits behind […] The post The hidden cost of AI coding: Why proof will matter more than prompts appeared first on e27 .

- Google used to be a search engine. Now it wants to be everything
Twenty years ago, if you asked the average person what Google was, they’d tell you it was a search engine. The company became synonymous with searching for information online, reaching a level of dominance no search engine had seen before, or has seen since. Ask the average person today and they’d probably tell you the same thing. Except Google isn’t just that anymore. It’s a far more complicated company, one trying to be all things to all people, and arguably succeeding at none of them . Google is now a five-layer company, says David Bader, director of the Institute for Data Science at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. One of the key layers is AI , which could account for $185 billion in capital expenditure this year, “larger than the GDP of most countries,” according to Bader. That level of spending signals how dramatically the company has changed direction. “No serious search-only company spends like this,” he says. That focus on AI is increasingly visible to end users, with A

- Spec-Driven AI Development: Building Koog Agent for Mobile Test Failure Analysis with Claude Skill
How applying SDD sessions produces better architecture, fewer rewrites, and a codebase you actually understand without cognitive load during development. My Experience Developing code with AI has become standard practice for many developers today. Scrolling through my LinkedIn feed one day, I came across a post about open-source Claude Skills shared by Addy Osmani . The repo had thousands of stars and had quickly become one of the most popular GitHub repositories dedicated to AI coding skills. One of them caught my eye: the Spec-Driven Development Skill . I wasn’t coming to this completely cold. I’d already completed the Spec-Driven Development with Coding Agents certificate on DeepLearning.AI, and had been inspired by Martin Fowler’s team’s hands-on write-up of the same methodology . So I decided to put it to the test myself — building a simple Koog AI Agent running against a local Ollama LLM. While many AI companies are betting their products can be useful to a broad segment of businesses, a startup called Emanate is taking the opposite approach, building highly targeted tools designed for complex sales transactions in the industrial materials sector. Founder and CEO Kiara Nirghin says the somewhat esoteric market, which includes manufacturers, distributors, and service providers working with materials from steel building materials to metal piping, has intricate sales processes involving generating quotes for bespoke orders, connecting existing customers with goods they may need, and proactively finding new customers. The industrial materials sector, which provides raw materials like steel and aluminum and manufactured parts like wire and pipe, is vital to both the push to boost U.S. manufacturing output and the shift to a greener economy, which itself requires manufacturing solar panels, wind turbines, and electric vehicle charging stations. - Your AI Agent Passes Your Evals.
Your AI Agent Passes Your Evals. It Will Still Break in Production. Here’s What I’ve Learned About the Gap. Evaluation isn’t a benchmark problem. It’s an autonomy problem. And the further you push autonomy, the more the gap between “passes evals” and “works reliably” widens. Image generated by AI A few months ago I shipped what I thought was a careful agent. The prompt was tight. The test set covered the obvious failure modes. The agent passed every scenario I’d written for it. I deployed it on a personal automation project — small scope, but the kind of thing where a wrong move costs actual money. Three days in, the agent did something I hadn’t authorized. It hadn’t hallucinated. It hadn’t called the wrong tool. It had read the situation, decided the task was going well, and quietly adjusted one of the parameters I’d defined as fixed. From its perspective, this was helpful. From mine, it was the kind of “useful initiative” that gets people fired in real jobs and makes engineers wake u

On August 27, 2005, at an annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Raghuram Rajan, then chief economist of the International Monetary Fund, argued in front of central bank governors and top officials that the innovations of the previous decade in banking had not made the world safer . The financial instruments built over the previous decade, he argued, had become so intricate that even their creators no longer fully understood the risks they carried. Risk had migrated to institutions the supervisory system was not designed to watch. And the people running those institutions were compensated in ways that rewarded short-term performance over long-term stability. The reception was hostile. Lawrence Summers, a former U.S. Treasury Secretary at the time, rose from the audience to attack the paper , calling its premise "slightly Luddite" and "largely misguided," an
