This List includes companies that develop core/foundational artificial intelligence that received venture capital funding in 2025 and are located in the Greater Bay Area, defined as Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano and Sonoma counties. Data was obtained from PitchBook. Deals with estimated values were excluded. Note: With the rapid proliferation of companies classified under the AI umbrella, we are refining our approach to this List to only include companies that build and sell proprietary AI for direct use. Companies that use AI to power a product or service are excluded.
