- Enterprises plan rapid growth for AI factories and AI at the edge, survey finds
When it comes to artificial intelligence projects — even amid challenges related to staffing, power, and cooling — enterprises still have aggressive plans for growth, according to a Deloitte survey of 515 IT and business executives conducted in Q4 2025. Respondents, all from companies with revenues of $500 million or more, expect to rapidly scale both AI factories and AI edge deployments, roughly doubling current levels over the next 3 years. By 2028, 73% of respondents expect to have at-scale deployments of AI factories, and 72% expect the same for AI at the edge, up from 36% (each), respectively, in late 2025. Growth of AI-related computing capacity, as measured by AI tokens, is likewise expected to double. In three years, a majority of respondents (61%) expect to consume 10B+ tokens per month by 2028. This will support a bevy of AI applications that are steadily moving from pilot into production. In 2025, just under 50% of organizations had 31 or more AI pilots; respondents expect t

Ahn Hai-ri The author is an editorial writer at the JoongAng Ilbo. For Ha Jung-woo, senior presidential secretary for AI future planning, I may have been only one of many reporters he had to deal with. But since his days at Naver, I had privately thought of him as my AI tutor. Whenever I had questions about AI technology or trends, I turned to him. Even when busy, he explained them in plain language fit for a humanities major. Ha Jung-woo, center, senior presidential secretary for AI future planning, speaks to reporters during a press briefing after President Lee Jae Myung's meeting with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink in New York on Sept. 22, 2025. [JOINT PRESS CORPS] That was why expectations were high when Ha was appointed last June as the Lee Jae Myung administration’s first senior AI secretary. In a Democratic Party government often seen as skeptical of technological progress and platform companies, many hoped he would keep policy balanced. Some dismissed him as “Naver’s AI salesperson”

Delegates at event in Cape Verde highlight opportunities from tech while stressing AI is no replacement for talent Last July, the Nigerian singer-songwriter Fave found herself caught up in a viral moment: an unauthorised version of a track by her featuring an AI choir had been released, quickly becoming an internet sensation. To get ahead of the situation, she recorded her own remix that integrated the AI-assisted song and added it to her discography. “In my view, [that] was smart and very business aware,” Oyinkansola Fawehinmi, a Lagos-based entertainment lawyer, observed a few months later . “She essentially reclaimed the ‘AI version’ and released it as her own official expression.” Continue reading...

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) test-time computing have introduced the capability to perform intermediate chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning (thinking) before generating answers. While increasing the thinking budget yields smooth performance improvements at inference time, the relationship between LLM capability, query complexity, and optimal budget allocation remains poorly understood for achieving compute-optimal inference. To address this challenge, we utilize self-consistency, the agreement among multiple reasoning paths, as a proxy for thinking necessity. We first identify…
